In Eureka's old slag piles a revived mining effort ships 60 tons weekly as arsenic bearing material is refined. Arsenic fetches up to 15 cents per pound at Atlantic ports while larger batches move wholesale. 26 tons derive from Eureka Consolidated and 26 from Rich dumps, with work sorting and loading underway.

A Tuesday night gunfight at the old J P Raine ranch seven miles south of Palisade involved U S prohibition officials A Carter and Pete Dubois and accused raine and Jack Bright. Carter was shot through the thigh, Dubois uninjured, and the wounded officer was later moved to St Mary's Hospital Sparks. Authorities say Carter may recover despite possible leg amputation. Raine and Bright face prosecution for liquor law violations.
