Water rights dispute over ranch sheep grazing near Straw

In a White Pine Court decision Judge Ise Padden ruled in favor of De M. Lockhart, plaintiff, against Marcos Logarra. The case concerns sheep grazing and water rights on springs near the Diamond range east of the Smith ranch, with testimony detailing damming of ditches and grazing causing crop damage. Eureka Mining News Reports High Grade Ore and New Milling Prep

A wood tonnage of high grade ore is being extracted around the old South stope. The work opens reserves of milling ore stored for future metallurgical developments. The 600 station drift continues in favorable formation with potential high grade encounters any day as experts inspect milling equipment. Smallpox Case Reported in Eureka and Community Guidance

One new smallpox case, Charlies Minoletti, develops after returning from Elko and is quarantined at home. All prior cases show recovery. Do not prematurely accuse others of smallpox. illnesses may have noncontagious causes. Health Officer will quarantine only when justified by contagious risk.

Three Suspects Tied to Palisade Robberies

Conductor Whitmore reported Friday that three young men at the Western Pacific depot in Palisade Thursday night planned to board a train. Most stolen goods were found in their three packed bed roll like bundles, and the trio had been in hiding awaiting an escape by train.

Teachers Examination Set for December 27 to 30, 1921

The teachers examination will be held December 27 28 29 30 1921 in Eureka Austin and Ely in the second supervision district. Teachers with provisional certificates must report for all subjects not yet credited by the State Board of Education. Those without regular certificates who fail to report will lose their schools after December 31 1921. Teachers must bring paper and pen.
