Assessing Patented Mines in Eureka County
Eureka County Commissioners debate taxing patented mines under Nevada Constitution. Assessors placed all mines at 500 with exemptions possible if $100 in labor was performed, but Board of Equalization must interpret the law. Authors urge legislature to clarify assessment rules to let assessors grant exemptions without undermining state taxation. The Ely Record notes faulty Nevada valuation methods. The article ends with a note on continued fine holiday weather.
