The Rose In the Ring Prologue progresses to a tense trap
In this prologue the Virginian David Jenison hides from pursuers beneath a circus tent. Braddock and a scheming troupe head threaten to surrender him for a reward unless he pays. David uses a $3000 inheritance to buy time, while flashbacks reveal Braddock’s shifting intent and a growing romance with Christine. Dick Cronk plots to expose Jenison, while the circus world, rival pickpockets, and a dawning scheme weave toward a dangerous confrontation.
