Nevada tobacco venture gains northern promise
Bam White, a former southern farmer, planted three acres of tobacco near Yerington in Mason Valley on a trial. After curing, Eastern cigar makers praised the sample. He plans to expand to 40 acres and return from Kentucky to plant Nevada land, arguing soil and season favor tobacco growth despite local doubt.

Rich Gold Find Reported Near Bruneau Creek in Nevada
Salt Take Herald-Republican notes conservative mining men regard a Bruneau Creek find as a major new gold camp. Prospectors, including the son of Salt Lake County Commissioner James E. Clinton, describe a 60 foot wide ledge rising 40 feet above ground with rich values. grab samples yield 148 dollars per ton and assays reach high figures. Dr. D A Bourne traced placer gold to the ledge, with canyon walls and volcanic intrusions shaping the deposit. The ledge, exposed and oxidized, appears to be the source of long-known Indian gold in the region.
