Sudden Death of Nevada Attorney General Baker
The Eureka Sentinel reports the death of Cleveland H. Baker, Nevada Attorney General, in Carson City after a night hemorrhage following a dream. Born in Eureka, he grew up in Nevada, studied law at Stanford, and rose from Nye County District Attorney to state attorney general. He leaves a widow, former Miss Pansy Perkins, and several family members. The shock prompted flags to half-mast in Carson City and possible state office closures for his funeral. Governor’s staff indicated no immediate successor named. Baker had strong ties to Nevada and was highly regarded as a public official. The Reno Gazette account notes the circumstances and his prominent role in state government.
