Oil prospects in Nevada studied by USGS geologist
A US Geological Survey geologist, Robert Anderson, surveyed oil prospects west of Reno and north of Walker River, Wellington, and Palisade. He found the asphalt prospect near Palisade unlikely to yield oil, with fractures spreading through Permian to Carboniferous rocks and altered hydrocarbons suggesting limited surface evidence. Further study is advised for regions south of Palisade before conclusions.
