Berlin reports a dangerous explosive found by German authorities. The government insists its composition must forever stay secret, describing the device as more deadly than ordinary dynamite and noting the covert nature of the material.
An announcement today claims Hiram Maxim has unveiled a new explosive. The German Government reportedly bans demonstrations and seals the composition. Maxim warns the device could be carried in a vest pocket and thrown into a crowd to kill royalty and many others.
The Nevada District reports multiple deaths including E. Starrett near Oroville and ex Senator Al Livingston in San Francisco. Ed Weaver found guilty of manslaughter in Tenabo, with seven years' penitentiary. Financial notes cite 1045 divorces in 1887-1906 and a 1900 marriage rate. Eureka Nevada December 8 1908 Barton Bveens Seytove reports a vice president of the Secret Canyon Tunnel and Development Co explaining that errors in the prospectus were not intended to mislead investors. He states all dealings with Mr Lund have been honorable and trustworthy.

The piece notes top families like the Vanderbilts Goulds Harrimans Lorillards and Burdens attend. horses from Canada and Europe compete. sales surpass a million dollars while gowns and jewels in boxes total over a million. It discusses society’s lure to show horses and a broker who spent fortune to join society, only to lose it and see his wife turn to stage work.
In Eureka Nevada on December 1 1908 C L Brow writes to P H Land in Denver addressing errors in a mining prospectus.
