Woman Keeps Driver Warm All Night After Crank-Case Accident

Arthur De La Vega, a Gold Circle auto driver, fractured his right leg when the car crank kicked during starting on the Gold Circle Golconda road. Passenger Mrs. Alice Thompson kept a sagebrush fire burning, built a bed on the ground, and guided him to safety at daybreak. He was hospitalized in Winnemucca the following day.

Nye County Grand Jury Reveals $272000 Shortage

The Nye County Grand Jury reports a bullion tax shortfall of about $272 000 and urges a special prosecutor to recover funds. It accuses county officials including the Sheriff and the State Board of Accountancy of hindering the audit, causing expenses and delays. Rules Adopted By Nevada Hotel Men

Reno hotel and restaurant operators approved resolutions calling for a five cent charge for extra butter service after November 10. Porterhouse and T-bone steaks would be discontinued to reduce waste. No meat would be served on Tuesdays, with poultry fish and byproducts exempt. White wheat flour dishes and white bread should be minimized to aid the war effort for the boys at the front.
