Richmond Eureka Mining seeks freight rate relief from Nevada railroad
A letter from George W. Heintz of United States Mining and Smelting Co outlines a plan to push for lower Eureka Nevada Railway rates to revive operations by Richmond Eureka and other area miners. Heintz suggests filing with Interstate Commerce Commission if needed, and urges Nevada Railroad Commission action to restore prewar class and commodity rates via the Eureka and Palisade and Southern Pacific lines. The missive argues the line’s reduced capitalization allows profitable operation at older rates, stressing mineral and agricultural development in the district.
