Rich Nevada copper mine claim eyed as premier prospect

Perry D Delmas reports a large high grade copper ledge in Lee canyon Elko County Nevada near Evens station on the Eureka Parade line. He describes a seven by eight foot test ore body with ore exposed on all sides and copper content from 30 to 60 percent. He aims to open the ledge with a 600 foot deep tunnel and envisions a major mine rivaling Butte if a big company backs the venture. The Nevada Railroad Commission considers cutting discriminatory tariffs, citing higher rates from Reno to Bay area routes.

The Nevada Publicity Committee, with help from the Nevada Mining and Scientific Society and Bradstreet, will publish a list of legitimate Nevada mining firms including claim counts, locations, officers, and capitalization. The effort aims to restore investor confidence and spur legitimate mining enterprise by exposing dishonest promoters and eliminating wildcat schemes.

American Deputy Arrested in Atwood Murder Case

L. Emerson, a deputy sheriff and gambler, was arrested in Mina for the murder of Joe Lafleur in Atwood, Esmeralda County. Lafleur was crouching with hands raised when killed, and the crime is described as cold blooded. Emerson had resided in Virginia City before traveling to the southern country.

Cortelyou to Aid The Market In New Plan
