Sunday schools from Eureka churches and M. E. Sunday School of Raby Hill hosted picnics at the Italian ranch recently. Presbyterians enjoyed a day outing on Tuesday and Catholice spent a pleasant country day on Thursday. Many Eureka youths joined multiple picnics enjoying outdoor recreation. Hamburg Mine Leased by Andrew Stinson Co. Two gean of the Hamburg mine near Prospect Mountain, southeast of Diamond and Excelsior wines, has produced well in the past but shaft issues have left it idle for years.

Accidental Hanting Incident Injures Local Hunter
Will Robertsau narrowly escaped serious injury while hunting in the cedars near town last Sunday. An unidentified hunter fired at a fleeing jackrabbit, peppering Robertsau with five shots. Two hits blistered his forehead, two struck his chest, and one nearly pierced the left index finger.

Fire at Care Aire damages properties in Carson incident
A fire Monday afternoon caused about 2000 dollars in damage at a shed behind United States Marshal Emmitt's residence and burned outbuildings several hundred feet long at the rear of Governor Sadler and Professor Howe's homes. The Emmitt residence was partially burned, Furnitore was removed from the Governor's residence and was badly damaged by rough handling and water. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Eureka School Trust, age term and tuition policy
The Eureka Board of School Trustees ordered that children turning six by September 1, 1902 may enroll in the Fall term starting September 1, 1902. Nonresident pupils will pay 21.50 per month tuition. Prospect trustees bought Mrs. A P Anderson’s house on Atle Hill to use lumber for an addition to the Dismond nine school. The National Live Stock Association reported its fifth annual convention with a 600 page volume full of stock industry information.

Death of J. G. Tonkin in San Francisco
John G. Tonkin 41, Eureka cattleman and Mason, died after a fall from a third floor window at 483 Geary Street San Francisco. Survived by brother Walter J. Tonkin of Eureka. Walter and Mrs. Tonkin traveled to assist with arrangements. Tonkin had been in frail health, recently treated for stomach and nervous trouble, and had hoped to return to Nevada.
