Stewart's meteoric flight through Nevada boosters and balloons

The Reno Journal reports Senator Stewart's seven day Nevada visit marked by active campaigning and mixed receptions. He met Judge Hawley in Carson City and pushed irrigation and Hawley support while denouncing Newlands in San Francisco Salt Lake Oyster Bay and Washington. Caliph of Baghdad and a night of political bluffing

Salt Lake Elks session overcharged visitors in 1919

State Grand Lodge Deputy W B Chamberlain says about 3,000 Elks and 15,000 visitors attended in Salt Lake City. He cites hotels raising rates, $20 daily room rents, $30 tallyho coach, meals from 2.50 to 4, and coffee and sandwiches at $1, all above normal prices. Also mentions anthrax killing Mason Valley livestock.
