Progress of the War Across Somme Front and Allied Advances
Allied forces push from Villers Bretonneux toward Albert and Hangard while French offensives seize Morisel and Moreuil. British, French, Americans and Canadians widen gains around Rozieres, Chipilly, and Montdidier, with German lines collapsing and a large-scale retreat likely to the Hindenburg line. Submarine activity sinks vessels near North American and Canadian coasts. Warilda hospital ship disaster results in many deaths. Archangel front drives Bolsheviks south toward Vologda.
