Honolulu Attorney Tom Fitch Charged With Conspiracy

Information from Honolulu states that Tom Fitch a noted attorney has been charged with conspiracy and ordered to repay funds received for legal services. Fitch and two other lawyers allegedly forced money from Mrs Back Pance by filing and defending suits in which she was the plaintiff, including an alleged offer to break the spendthrift trust to free her. Fitch reportedly offered a 2500 dollar contingent fee. The case was won in lower court but reversed on appeal with 1500 dollars paid. A S Humphreys filed the charge requesting the fee be set aside and the court ordered repayment.

Death of Dr Matthew Gardner After Appendicitis

Dr. Matthew Gardner a leading U S surgeon and Southern Pacific Hospital chief died in San Francisco on April 16 after an appendicitis operation. Despite skill from Coffey Rixford Ainsworth de Vechi Ellinwood White and O Connor the patient could not be saved. He faced death with fortitude comforting his wife and appointing executors before passing peacefully. Over three years he directed more than a thousand similar cases with one unsuccessful outcome his own.

Operation Successful in Lolita Armour Case

Dr Adolph Lorenz arrived in Chicago to remove the leg cast from Lolita Armour daughter of J Ogden Armour after October surgery for congenital dislocation of the hip. The limb is in perfect condition and she can walk at home. The operation was a complete success but constant attendance is needed for three to four weeks to confirm cure. The Utah Legislature passed a law imposing a five dollar fine or five days imprisonment for anyone under 18 with tobacco or opium.
