Boston lawyer develops hip disease treatment device

Ralph W. Bartlett of Boston has completed a mechanical appliance for congenital hip dislocation that claims to surpass Dr Lorenz in bloodless surgery. Tested in city hospitals, it appears to cure cases beyond Lorenz's ten year age limit, by gradually lengthening muscles ligaments and tissues while stabilizing the bone without severe manual wrenching. Cattlemen Resist Fences on Government Lands in Kansas

From Topeka reports dated April 10 cattlemen in northwestern Kansas vow to defy an Interior Department order requiring fences around Government lands be removed. A battle between cattle owners and farmers continues as farmers fail to force removal. Over 40,000 acres of Government land will be opened for settlement in Kansas once fences are down.
