A nationwide protest emerges against the publicity clause of the corporation tax law fueled by commercial bodies. Proponents say openness protects minority stockholders and exposes slush funds, while critics warn rivals could glean competitive insights into operations. White light is touted to curb scandals in finance.
The ninth annual Copper Handbook by Horace A Bievens of Houghton Michigan has 1828 pages and describes no fewer than 771 copper mines and properties globally. It covers history chemistry mining geology metallurgy and uses in 24 chapters with a glossary and substitutes alloys and grades. Priced at $5.00 with mail order, approval after five weeks.
The census begins April 15 with a two week window in cities and 80 days elsewhere. Enumerators wear a badge under United States law, and responses are confidential. The President calls all citizens to cooperate, stressing no tax, military, school, immigration, or law enforcement repercussions.
In the Sacramento District many of about two thousand seven hundred corporations have not filed excise tax reports with the U.S. Internal Revenue Collector in Sacramento. A Reno branch of the Western Pacific is reported to plan a feeder via Verdi to Boca and Loyalton, with a Verdi to Reno line organized to link Verdi Lumber Company and the Borsend Louisian road system already under Western Pacific control.
A historic note states that the company may be taken over by the Western Pacific in time. Rights of way along the south side of the Trackee river have already been secured from local farmers.

Fragmented OCR notes discuss Eureka and Secret Canyon mining districts with maps and listings of Windfall mines. A political speech is quoted railing against dishonest and underhand tricks, warning citizens that two can play at the game. The tone is combative and local in origin.
The Eureka County Board calls bids for furnishing materials and erecting a frame building on Lot in Addition No 1 in Buokbors. Bids due March 4 at 2 pm. Bid bond 500 required. work to start after bond approval and finish within twenty days unless extended. Board may reject all bids. Clerk R McCharles. Eureka Nevada February 10 1910.
