Death of Hiram Chase Ends Eiko Business Icon

Hiram Chase aged about 85 died after stomach illness. Born near Buffalo New York he came to California in 1849 and lived in Eiko since 1800. He survived a self inflicted burn injury and later built a thriving dry goods business worth around 84000. His funeral led to school closure and near total business slowdown.
