Grand Jury Recommends Road Upgrades and Safety Measures

The Eureka County Grand Jury report dated March 28 1916 urges the Board of County Commissioners to buy a plow and grader for county roads and to install chemical fire extinguishers in the courthouse and Eureka School Building. It also highlights road repairs from Beowawe to Palisade, calls for better sign boards, and warns against minors in gambling dens.

Eureka Fire Hydrants and Carts Rated in Excellent Condition

The Eureka Fire and Water Committee reports all town hydrants mains and tanks in excellent condition. County cart is well equipped with 500 feet hose. Hook and Ladder cart updated. Rescue and Nob Hill carts have 700 feet hose each. Hancock carts hold 500 feet new hose, with 300 feet old hose in poor shape needing replacement. Recommend buying new hose for Hancock to ensure two lines to protect the schoolhouse area. Commends town and county fire system protecting Court House and property.
