Jumbo's Receiver Discharged in Mining Suit Court Ruling

In Carson City US District Court Judge Hawley discharged the receiver appointed in James G. Ford vs C D Taylor and others. The defendant’s answer acted as an affidavit and outweighed the complaint, removing cash funds totaling about $100,000 from the receiver’s control. Also reported: Nevada jockeys' fortunes, a Sparks Monte Carlo plan, Reno smallpox outbreak, and a Bear Grove man’s Kidney trouble cured by Electric Bitters.

Nevada cattle shipments fuel eastern markets surge

A consignment of 12 Nevada beef cattle went to Kansas City and Chicago, and another carload sent to eastern markets by the Dangbergs of Carson Valley. Reno Gazette notes a Nevada cattle revival as alfalfa fed stock command high prices, with Elko and Humboldt counties cited for prime ranges. Dr Ward promises to publish wine sellers linked to adulteration. Hogs fetch strong prices with forty seven head selling for $4345 total in Elmwood last week.

Esmeralda coal fields seen inexhaustible and high quality

Dr. A F McCoy of Puelo Colorado recently toured the Southern Nevada gold fields and the Esmeralda coal belts along the Tonopah line. He says the semi anthracite coal is abundant with seven veins and would fuel Nevada’s ore smelting, selling for 7.50 a ton at Uvaldale and 17.50 delivered to Tonopah, vs 9.0 at Goldfield. He predicts broad regional development.
