Milwaukee Route Fully Decided for Coast Extension

Chicago reports confirm the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul railroad will gain right of way from Chilenham South Dakota to Butte Montana a distance of 731 miles with construction started in April. From Butte to Seattle the path is not yet fixed but engineers will report plans within days. Estimated cost to the Pacific coast stands near 280 million dollars about 188000 a mile for the 1500 mile span.

The Eugene Commercial Club plans a formal opening of its new quarters in the Paine block on September 14. A committee of H. W. Thompson G. W. Griffin and Dr OC. B. Willoughby will arrange the affair.
