Over $500 Per Acre for Lane County Apples
Lane County orchardists report record apple yields with the Miller brothers near Eugene harvesting 45 bushels from a single Gravenstein tree and Dr H F McCornack southwest of the city gathering 700 bushels. With marketable fruit at high levels, growers anticipate earnings over $500 per acre, aided by reputational demand that could fetch higher prices if fruit came from Hood River or Rogue River. The bumper crop stresses trees in many orchards and marks the largest Lane County harvest in years.
