Boys Plead Manslaughter in Powell Murder Case

Thomas Reeves and Hugh Saxon appeared in circuit court and, through attorneys, changed from not guilty to a plea of manslaughter for the killing of Wm. Powell the old peddler near Cottage Grove. Judge Harris fixed Friday at 10 a.m. for sentencing. Reeves admitted Saxon fired the fatal shot while Reeves claimed his own shot went wild. Saxon was described as shrewd and controlling.
