From Perout in Asiatic Turkey reports a critical situation at Raudia and Deuryta with major unrest feared. Five hundred Turkish troops have been sent to the hot spots and the battleship Triumph, carrying the consul, departed for Deurytal to assist.
Chicago wheat prices rose after opening today with May at 1.25 and July at 1.17. Dry weather in Kansas and Nebraska boosted trade as market closed higher with May at 1.25, July 1.15, Sept 1.05 and December at 7.5.

Salem reports a blaze last night destroyed the weighing rooms machine shops and foundry at the Oregon state penitentiary and damaged the nickel plating works and other facilities. Estimated loss stands at 36000 dollars with no injuries. The origin remains unclear though officials suspect smoldering flames in the moulding room cupola after the final blast. Fire crews from Salem responded swiftly and trustees were released as the alarm went out. T. J. Ryan of Boise Idaho is in the city.
In San Francisco on May 5, Francia J. Heney and A. A. Moore engaged in a heated exchange during Patrick Calhoun’s trial as Moore objected to a witness question. Accusations of scoundrelism flew as the court ordered a halt to the verbal clash and calm returned. Stanley Moore, son of A. A. Moore, was later rebuked for interrupting the judge.
Pittsburg May 5. Sentences imposed on graft defendants include W. W. Ramsey former national bank president bribery one year six months and a fine of 1000 John F Klein councilman bribery two years and a fine of 1006.
