Grace Sergent Weds Glenn Woodruff at Pearl Street

The Daily Guard reports a June 16 wedding at 685 Pearl Street with Grace G Sergent and Glenn Woodruff uniting in matrimony. Rev H A Green officiated in a home ceremony attended by relatives and close friends. Roses and ivy decorated the parlor and dining room, followed by a lavish repast and a train trip to Roseburg amid showers of rice and flowers. The bride, a Fugene student, and Mr Woodruff, a prominent barber, received many presents and best wishes from friends.

The O. R. & N. repaired their track and trains now reach Heppner. The Walla Walla train, which lost its rear cars after a broken bridge near Lexington, arrived in Heppner without further mishap.

Money for Heppner Sufferers Telegram Call for Help

A telegram to Mayor G. R. Chrisman from Heppner dated June 17 1903 requests funds for affected residents. Dr. D. A. Paine and G. W. Griffin joined mayoral party to raise relief via a subscription paper, with Eugene residents expected to respond generously.

Dr Stephen Wise of Portland delivered the baccalaureate address before a full Villard Hall audience at the University. The program included Doxology, scripture readings, solos, and prayers as seniors in cap and gown entered for the service. The week continues with School of Music recital, Class Day, Fern and Flower procession, Alumni Day, and Commencement events through Thursday.

Runaway Horse Crashes Wagon in Crenwell

A horse owned by BR. D. Hawley ran away Monday in Crenwell while driven by Ray Smith. The wagon struck a telegraph pole, knocking it down. Smith escaped with a deep head wound and a bruised shoulder.

Hemenway Read Wedding on a Pleasant Hill Porch

Miss Ora Read and Almond W. Hemenway wed at the Read home on Pleasant Hill, a porch ceremony with fern festoons and abundant flowers. Rev D C Kellems officiated. Maud Bradley played the wedding march. matron of honor was Mrs Kellems. About a hundred guests attended a lawn luncheon. gifts were numerous and costly. Both are well known county residents with the bride a teacher and church leader, the groom a Cottage Grove businessman who will reside there.
