Annapolis July 21 Lieutenant Bevan resumed testimony as the court of inquiry examined the death of Lieutenant James N. Sutton of Portland Oregon Mrs Sutton maintains he was beaten in a quarrel and the head wound was self inflicted after the assault Mrs Sarah J Rogers widow of Governor John H Rogers died in Seattle yesterday

Denton Bribery Case Ties Cigar Store to Police Officer

Robert Denton proprietor of a Slath and Willamette cigar store attempted to bribe Chief Farrington with two $5 bills to gain advance notice of liquor raids. Farrington turned the money over to deputies, leading to a bribery charge and Denton posting $900 bond. A field near McMinnville is projected to yield 50 bushels per acre.

About sixty Springfield Eugene and nearby residents attended a Good Roads meeting. D E Yoran blamed the county court for bad roads and urged a strong resolution demanding a good Springfield road and countywide improvements. The county judge and commissioners were invited by personal escort due to their absence.
