Washington December 15 The Bach Bill requiring railroad companies to report all accidents to the Interstate Commerce Commission faced House consideration. Lurton receives honor as the Senate Judiciary Committee votes to favorably report Morace J. Lurton for associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Walla Walla on December 14 reports the city lacking burial space as the council weighs plans to enlarge the cemetery. Several land offers near the cemetery exist but are costly, with fewer than a dozen lots remaining.

Reidsville North Carolina December 15 the four rear cars of a Southern Railway passenger train were ditched down a 50 foot embankment from the Reid Creek trestle ten miles from Reidsville early today ten persons were killed and thirty five injured The engine mail and baggage cars passed over the bridge safely and among the passengers in the sleeper cars were George Gould and his son though they escaped injury
