Per capita resources average 237.24 with New York leading at 676.07. Deposits total 14.106 billion including government, loans 11.373 billion and deposits rising since 1900. The survey notes deposit rates average 3.55 percent for savings and 2.10 percent for other accounts.
George P. Sheldon, once president of the Phenix Insurance Co. of Brooklyn, was indicted for grand larceny. The case follows his deposition and current critical illness as reported from New York on December 8.
James McCrea became president of the Pennsylvania Railroad on January 2 1907 succeeding the late Cassatt. He started railroad service in 1865 as a rods nan and advanced through the ranks.
