Old Kentucky family feud claims two women as victims
Williamson West Virginia November 26 A sheriff's posse shot and killed Mrs Charles Daniels and her 16 year old daughter near Devon Mingo county while trying to aid their father and brother escape. The deaths grew from a feud between the Christians and Daniels on the Kentucky West Virginia border. The Christians sided with Mingo county West Virginia while the Daniels were based in Pike county Kentucky. A prior slaying of George Christian by Jim Daniels widened the clash. Warrants issued for Jim Daniels and his brother led a Christian posse to pursue the men, when the women fired at them and were killed. One posse member was injured. By sacrificing their lives the women enabled the retreat of their father and brother.
