Obituary for Houston Turley Civil War veteran and father of ten
Houston Turley born December 12 1839 died June 25 1911. He married Elizabeth Beasley November 20 1862 and later Mary Condra May 31 1886, leaving ten children eight living. He served in the Civil War with the 144 Indiana Wes and was a Church of Christ member. The notice quotes verses from his children and notes his passing leaves sorrow in the home.

Mrs Lucy Goodman wife of Eld A J Goodman died suddenly of heart failure at her East Fifth street home Wednesday evening after a period of illness. She had been active with her usual housework earlier in the day and succumbed about half an hour later. Her friends in English remember her with affection. funeral arrangements had not yet been announced.

Huston Turley Civil War veteran died at his daughter Mrs Ike Froman’s home south of English Sunday morning leaving several children including James and Alfred in English’s hardware business and Mrs. W M Woolums of Eckerty. Interment Beasley cemetery Monday. Christian church to hold services next Sunday with sermons on The Supreme Work of the Church and An Intelligent Gospel, with good music. all welcome.

New Counterfeits Found From Secret Service Alert
The secret service reports two new counterfeit notes in circulation. A $20 gold certificate uses lithographed bond paper with ink line silk fibers and defects in Washington’s portrait. A $10 United States note with Lewis and Clark portraits has good color but heavy printing and an oversized seal.

Peirse Lefluizier A Pioneer Naturalized Citizen Remembered
Peirse Lefluizier was born in Germany October 13, 1920 and came to this country in 1849. He naturalized in Cincinnati Ohio on October 13 1863. He lived in Buffalo N Y and Cannelton before moving to Wickliffe in 1891 to live with sister Catharine Moory. In 1902 he settled near Temple where he died June 27 1911 at age 90 8 14 after a long life as a single man. He joined the Evangelical church at Cannelton after arriving in America and remained a member until his death.
