Taft Sherman Nominees Confirmed at Chicago Convention

The fifteenth Republican national convention renominated William Howard Taft for president and James Sherman for vice president. Taft won 561 votes, with Roosevelt delegates largely silent in protest, while Sherman received 597 votes. A resolution empowered the national committee to fill vacancies and seat any member refusing to support the nominees. District Conference to Be Held at Wesley Chapel

The New Albany District of the Methodist Episcopal Church will hold its district conference at Wesley Chapel July 8 to 10 with delegates from across the district. An all day union meeting at Glenwood Park on the 10th will feature Bishop McConnell and Rev J H Young of Louisville delivering sermons. The event offers a chance to meet the new bishop and learn about church work and workers.
