A letter from Parkersburg West Virginia dated 9 3 15 to the Encampment Record Wyoming shows property owners pressed to reopen the smelter and restart mining operations. It notes Mr Newberger awaiting restored marketing facilities to reactivate his property, and includes a $2.00 check accompanying the note.
Last Saturday night at city hall the pictures were exceedingly good with the largest crowd in some time. Parkison strives to provide the best possible show for Encampment and urges people not to miss each performance. A good program is planned for next Saturday night with interesting and instructive pictures.
The Encampment Rawlins party touring Yellowstone National Park returned to Rawlins on Tuesday. Guests of County Assessor Boyce and Rev. M. H. Frank, of the Presbyterian church, were members of the party with their families. All report a good time and improved health. The Encampment party proceeded on their way Wednesday afternoon.
The Encampment public school opened Tuesday morning with good attendance. Principal Miss Margaret Canfield was water bound and did not arrive at opening but sent a telegram promising to come soon. Miss Gertrude Berquist and Miss Lella C Hunter held their posts and the school began with notable interest from pupils and teachers. Omar Dunbar attended the Saratoga fair Tuesday.
Mr Haupt rents the old Senate saloon for a public reading room with a score of magazines and expected book consignments and game boards. The well lit room will be heated before cold weather and welcomes country people as a town rest headquarters open daily 10 am to 10 pm, first door south of the Bohn hotel.
Charles Hansen remains in a serious state at Rawlins sanitarium. He has now developed typhoid fever. Mrs. G C Austin, Hansen’s sister, has been at Rawlins with him for several days.
A report from Commissioner Tallman lists public domain open to entry by state. South Dakota 2,880,828 surveyed and 55,781 with surveyed. Arizona 86,810,827. Colorado 17,236,114. Idaho 16,212,273. Wyoming 30,929,969 acres.
Dr H M Stevenson Rev Julius Hoffman and Miss EBERelley of Baltimore are spending a few weeks at the fish house on the Platte. They praise the country and plan to return next summer.
A letter urges subscription to The Encampment Record for a year and discusses potential community support and early reopening of the Penn Wyoming properties with smelting facilities. The Wyoming Daily Tribune items note staff moves, a theater resignation, a lodging list at Bohn hotel, and a vegetable shipment from a local farm.
Mrs. Ellen J. Tilton and Mrs. Florence M. Ferry, delegates from Encampment Chapter No 17, C E S, left Saturday for Casper to attend the eighteenth annual session of the Grand Chapter of Wyoming, which convened there on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
A regular meeting of the A F S A was held at the reading room in the bank building Wednesday evening.
The Sunday school aims for rally day the last Sunday of the month with a large children’s program. Attendance is expected to rise with public school starting, and emphasis on religious training at home and in class. Services at Beaver Creek Sunday at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. choir practice Friday at 8. I G Semmine notes. Miss Margaret Canfield arrived as Encampment public schools principal.
