Prospectors pass through town amid mining changes
SEVENTEEN YEARS a Geo, Kuntzman has been on the sick list this week. A train of a half dozen prairie schooners passed through town Tuesday headed for Beaver creek with prospectors and miners. The Bobn & Rankin hotel furnished supper to over fifty guests, the largest number yet at an ordinary meal in this new mining camp. The Rawlins-Grand Encampment stage line is established, with the first coach Monday and daily county-seat service promised. Charter Oak Copper Mines, Ltd., offered $250,000 for Charter Oak property through J. B. Hassett of Saratoga. Hassett owns one six of the property and awaits a London office reply. The Charter Oak mine runs copper values 2 to 60 percent, $7 gold, and two ounces silver. surface vein two feet wide, widening to seven feet at ninety feet down, with further width increases since 400 feet depth. A late carload test to Denver yielded high grade copper and $7.50 in gold.
