Land parcels in French Creek project open for filing on July 22 after state relinquishment. Areas include Twp 14 N R 32 W and Twp 14 N R 83 W with multiple lots and sections. Applications received before July 22 will be suspended until that date and then acted upon.
United States land office warns homesteaders that fall plowing and seeding count for the year they are done, not when crops mature. Some entrymen inquire about counting two years of cultivation. Register Reid notes many patents await rightful owners and explains final certificates, affidavits, and patent securing procedures. Wyoming Tribune.
A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Evans of Rawlins on Wednesday of last week. The child is W. F. Hopka’s first grandchild, and he plans more treats as he visited Rawlins Sunday to see the new youngster.
Mrs. 8. E. Ferree formerly of Encampment died at her Artesia home on June 29 from cancer. Age 55. Survived by her husband. In Encampment she was prominent in society and active in the Eastern Star.
Encampment sent every available car to Saratoga last Sunday to watch the home team beat Saratoga 19 to 0. The win sparked strong local enthusiasm, as Saratoga had previously defeated Encampment. Archie Anderson returned to town Monday after a month with mountain fever.
The Denver forest office warns rains are badly needed as fires spread across Colorado and Wyoming forests. Sixty men fight a heavy timber blaze in Pitkin district while Blue Mesa, Mt Evans, Routt, and Medicine Bow fires draw crews and cost totals rise. A Foxpark sale area fire destroys a million and a half feet of logs. several hundred men, many from a sawmill crew, battle to contain it. Mr and Mrs Mark Edick attended a local dance.
Several hundred people gathered for a proper Fourth of July in Encampment with a Riverside park basket picnic. In the evening a dance at the city hall drew about two hundred attendees from Saratoga Beaver Creek Brush Creek and nearby areas, dancing until four oclock Wednesday morning.
With Frontier Days set for July 26 27 25 and 29 a fortnight hence the Wyoming national guard now mobilized for the Mexican campaign is expected in Cheyenne. If present the celebration will feature a grand tribute to Wyoming volunteers with 60 000 spectators from Wyoming and other states to witness the pass in review.
I C Platt visited Saratoga last Friday. J R Rollman spent Friday in Saratoga. Charles Hayden travelled to town Sunday. The Anderson family attended church in Encampment Sunday. Miss Pearl Meredith visited Miss Clara Anderson Sunday. Hugh Hunter and family were guests at the W R Hunter ranch Sunday. Louis Gunst and R H Platt attended the stockmen's meeting in Saratoga last Friday. W R Hunter and wife and daughter and W N Toothaker and wife and daughter attended the stockmen’s meeting and banquet in Saratoga last Friday.
The Nuff Seds met last Wednesday night near Riverside park with host Ben Zine. A vic trola provided music while Marquis gave a talk and Zine performed a recitation. Miss Della Kate joined the club as a member and a Dutch oven supper followed for fourteen attendees. All praised the evening’s enjoyment.
Roy Tilton of Saratoga and Miss Hattie Tilton attended a local dance Tuesday night. The article notes a Fourth of July disruption causing Havard inaday leave and power shortages, impacting turnout and festivities.
