Tungsten finds reported near Encampment district

The Record notes tungsten possibly present in the Encampment district after assay of Silver Plume ore samples from Wood Mountain. Some samples show over 40 percent tungsten while others from a different vein show none. More samples will be sent to Denver for testing and progress will be reported to readers. Peter Olson of Evanston recalls finding tungsten nearby six years ago, with wolframite and scheelite as principal ore.

Picture Show Resumes Operation at City Hall

After a months lapse due to the electric light system closure the picture show will be resumed at the city hall on Saturday night. Manager Parkison aims to improve service and plans future shows twice weekly, with present programming limited to Saturdays. Six reels of films will provide about two hours of entertainment with good music.

Try New Alfalfa Seed From Bingham Ranch Visit

Henry Flohr visited the Record office after reaching Bingham ranch last Saturday. In town he received 160 pounds of alfalfa seed, promising hardier growth and higher yields. He plans irrigation trials and dry farming methods. Mr Blorb, a leading Encampment Valley agricultural dealer, expects to homestead 320 acres soon.

Grand Master Dickinson visits Encampment Lodge No 19

On Tuesday night last week Encampment lodge No. 19 A F and A M hosted Most Worshipful Grand Master W H Dickinson whose Wyoming jurisdiction spans the state. He praised the lodge for owning its hall despite hard years and spoke to about twenty members. The Hasters Star ladies hosted a banquet, Dickinson spoke to the ladies, and a reception, dancing, and music followed, marking a profitable visit.

Ladies Meeting At Encampment Farmers Institute

Owing to bad weather the Encampment city hall farmers institute sessions Friday afternoon and evening drew fewer attendees though many farmers and ranchers traveled long distances. Participants showed eagerness to learn as difficult regional problems were discussed, with positive expectation of benefit. A Saturday ladies’ meeting in the Presbyterian room featured Miss Henrietta of the Laramie state agricultural college, plus speakers Prof Faville E F Burton and A E Bowman from the same college.

Forest notes on Harney forest fires and joint cabin project

Three forest fires in the Harney area prompt patrol guard at Harney Peak lookout. Forest service and state game department plan a joint cabin at Trappers Lake near the White River hatchery site. Secretary of Agriculture approves adding parts of Colorado National Forest into Rocky Mountain National Park per H R bill 10124. Denver district forester notes forests under jurisdiction led six western districts in cattle and horse grazing in 1915, second in sheep and goats. District 4 tops in sheep grazing in Utah and southern Idaho.

Winter Trip Report By Mr Leake And Wife

Mr Leake and his wife, who spent the winter in southern California, returned home last week and report a very mild winter there. They say the visit was enjoyed immensely.

Josiah's Courtship staged at City Hall Encampment

Beaver Creek youths presented Josiah's Courtship a four act comedy at City Hall Encampment last Saturday. The production drew a large crowd with strong performance from all, interspersed with farce and recitations. Leake Bros orchestra aided the evening with a well attended dance and late midnight supper by Suttles restaurant followed by dancing through the night. A caucus at City Hall next Saturday at 7 80 p m will nominate city office candidates for the coming year.
