Rich Charter Oak Copper company resumes mine operations eight miles west of town after fuel shortage halted work in January. A new Nash truck and a Patriot engine shuttle ore and crews, with a flotation plant installed. Annual stockholders meeting set for May 18 in Encampment. a special meeting June 8 will consider expanding directors from three to nine.

Missing Encampment actor Joe Pixley Believed Dead in Hills
Joe Pixley a noted coaractor in Encampment has been missing about ten days. Suspected he was lost in the hills and died of hunger and exposure. Last seen Monday May 3 while trekking toward the North store. He lived alone for years and no trace found despite search parties sweeping the hills south and west. His car tracks appeared four miles up North Park but were soon lost. Neighbors fear his fate as ages and infirmities hindered his mobility. He owned cash and a paid life insurance policy and his daughter resides in New York state. If any person can work around school hours to learn a trade, contact is requested.
