A lengthy reminiscence notes postwar reconciliation on the Chickamauga battlefield with Confederate veterans praising Union loyalty and the end of secession. It traces centuries of Anglo American conflict before declaring a new era of harmony and national unity across the North and South.
A term of the District Court will begin at Williamsport on Monday October 21 at 2 p.m. Those seeking second papers may obtain them then. Distant applicants arriving at opening can be naturalized the same day with two witnesses and a copy of first papers. Naturalization fee is two dollars.

B F Scovil seeks farmers in Emmons county to sell wheat and other grains at McKenzie this year. He promises to pay the highest market prices and continues his purchasing offer as before.

Martin Kunkel, farmer north of Dawson, jailed for fencing government land with $300 bond. Sunday School report from Pleasant View in Logan district records opening on September 22 with singing and prayer by the superintendent. Four officers and one teacher were present with thirteen pupils. A 28 cent collection was taken. The session closed with benediction and an invitation to attend the last summer session on September 29.

The piece notes a drop in visible supply from 60,168,000 to 36,755,000 bushels and asks if a large market manipulation is underway, challenging whether such a crime could be perpetrated against northwest farmers.
Of 1,249 West Point graduates alive at the Civil War start 821 served in the Union 498 pursued civilian lives. Among former servicemen 202 returned to Union battle, 99 joined the Confederate army. of those still in service 627 remained with the flag 184 joined the opposing side. Among 850 southern graduates 162 served in the Federal army including General Thomas, the Rock of Chickamauga.
