Miss Cash Petrie of Herkimer New York born 1849 endured illness leading to travel seeking treatment in Bismarck and Chicago. Her condition worsened and she died early on Sunday after a long bout of sickness.
The obituary notes the death of a thrifty strong minded Emmons county woman who, with sister Anna, built one of the area’s prosperous farms. Her remains were brought home Wednesday night and she was buried at Lin ton cemetery after a funeral at brother Wallace’s place. Survived by two brothers Fred and Wallace and two sisters Alice Irvine of Chicago and Anna of Lipton, with Ollie Petrie of Herkimer N Y present.

A letter from James B Sandidge appeals to Emmons County voters for support in the superintendent race. He notes he has not solicited votes but would value friends and other voters backing him and asks for their continued support at the polls. He expresses confidence in serving with the best effort.

The eighth legislative session proposed changing section 162 to allow investments of the permanent school fund and other educational funds only in state and local bonds or first mortgages on farm lands in North Dakota.
