Reports from The Hague say Queen Wilhelmina’s illness is met with growing optimism for the popular young heir of the House of Orange. In a lighter note, contractors plan cement sidewalks before residences, though town cows may slip and injure themselves on the new paths.
In Linton two men identified as E E Brown and H H Wiggin from Minneapolis bought Justice J W Wescott’s horse herd with mortgages on St Paul area lots. The men shipped twenty five horses from Braddock to Wisconsin and Minnesota papers warn of possible fraud. Attorney Armstrong seeks arrest or recovery for the widowed victim of a large scheme.
An Eureka attorney organizes farmers to refuse a right-of-way a few miles west of Eureka. The case may end with the owners gaining most of the money after legal costs, a result rare in condemnation proceedings where owners secure more than initial offers.
