Silverware theft prompts editor’s plate panic in Linton

The Pioneer Journal notes a tramp printer sought for stealing silverware from Editor Thurston of Brad, who arrived Sunday on the Soo and left before telegram delivery. The piece laments editor security and humorously imagines a steel safe and riot shot gun to guard property.

Railroad Work Near Linton Bridges Beaver River

Milwaukee Railway crew completed the bridge over Beaver river near Linton with about half a mile of track laid. Rails awaited at Aberdeen were en route and the engineer expected to return with cars of rails by morning. The track to the depot site was to be completed this afternoon.

Destructive Fire Destroys Winona Store and Nearby Structures

A Sunday dawn blaze in Winona wiped out the H. F. Douglas general store and post office building, saving the mail but destroying the structure and its contents. The adjacent storage room and the Otek Fyne building also burned, with nearby households and goods lost. Major Pitta, county treasurer, had previously operated the store since 1884.

Sudden Stroke Strikes Rev H J Sheridan in Town

Tuesday afternoon about 3 30 o clock the Rev H J Sheridan was suddenly attacked by apoplexy while walking from the Episcopal church to the Linton House. He reached the hotel porch and was carried inside. Dr Hogue pronounced cerebral hemorrhage. Left side of face and right side of body paralyzed. He is conscious but unable to speak clearly. Telegram sent to Mrs.

Sheridan of Jamestown arrives with Rev Edward Burleson in Linton to assess the Episcopal church project. The building by Bishop Cameroun Mann is nearly finished and services have begun. The stricken man faces little chance of recovery. a replacement minister will be sent.

Ladies Guild entertainment at Episcopal church a success

A large audience enjoyed the Ladies' Guild program at the Episcopal church on Saturday evening. C F Muckler and Edna Burge led numbers, with substitutes for absent performers. Highlights included a shadow pantomime, a trio, and melodious solos by Mrs Rooks, Mrs Crain, and Mr Kelly. The crowd applauded strongly, especially for "Three Little Lads" and "Kentucky."
