The Pioneer Journal of the County introduces the Emmons County Record by D R Streeter from Linton North Dakota. The record is entered at the Linton Post Office as second class matter.
In North Dakota the legislature enacted a strict peddler license law, prohibiting farmers from selling farm products door to door. A court case followed, Judge Fisk of Grand Forks district ruling the law does not violate the constitution.
Turcow expansion aims to transform state dairying by promoting centralized churning and cream shipping. Morton County illustrates success with creameries, and spreading small separators enables many to enter the dairy business. The Missouri Slope, with favorable conditions, is poised for major dairy growth.
A new state law requires any person finding an estray animal to publish notice within ten days in a weekly county newspaper or nearest newspaper if none exists. The notice must describe the animal and its marks and brands. Violations are a misdemeanor with liability to the owner for damages due to failure to advertise.
A Tennessee reunion recalls the Sultana explosion of April 1865 aboard the Mississippi river steamer. Survivor accounts describe an overloaded transport, the blast near Memphis, and the burial of hundreds of victims, many Union soldiers released from Confederate prisons. The memory highlights the era’s wide range of Civil War upheavals.
Pollawing and White announce Arbor Day proclamation aligning with established local custom of planting trees and honoring community heritage. Officials urge residents to participate in tree-planting events and public observances across the district.
A spring day is set aside for the general planting of trees statewide with Arbor Day on May 1 2008. The message emphasizes the value of trees for beauty comfort and economic importance and urges youth involvement in planting. It recalls last year’s recommendation to plant a McKinley elm at every school and public institution and suggests adding a memorial tree for Arbor Day originator J Sterling Morton.

Wincunsier North Dakota April 27 1903 To the Editor of the Record. A last issue item claimed Burge Cemetery in Simons county exists. Correction: there is no Burge Cemetery here. In Winchester lies Beaver Valley Cemetery where three old soldiers are buried. Please call it Beaver Valley Cemetery.
The Records notes a double wedding at Mrs. Ruse Walden’s home in Winona district. William Verceran wed Nellie Walden, and Claude Green wed Annie atte, with Rev. Fr. Bernard and Rev. J. A. Lem ery presiding. Guests included the McCrory and Corcoran families and other local friends. The piece also lists a Ladies' Guild program for the Lin ton church, local business notices, and travel and loan offers from area firms.
