Williamsport Temperance Society held a Saturday social with music by Lillie Keim and William Campbell D R Rupert and Charles Kilbourn. Dancing and a bountiful supper followed, ending at midnight with attendees claiming a successful temperance gathering and hope for future events.

Second Annual Territorial Fair Planned at Huron

Secretary Bushnell of the Territorial Board of Agriculture announces the second annual territorial fair under the Dakota Board of Agriculture to be held at Huron from September 6 to 10, 1886. Fifteen thousand dollars in premiums will be offered including three hundred fifty dollars for the best county exhibits. Reduced rail rates and free transportation for stock and exhibits are provided. Premium list to be ready June 1.

Williamsport Emmons county board meets with Chairmen James B. Gayton approving six days of road work at two dollars per day and authorizing payment. A Harmons County road petition is allowed, and a Logan Township route is granted with W J Yeuter tasked to review costs. County officials list numerous audited bills, sheriff Wade’s Gilbert case expenditures, and a local Sunday Sabbath notice invites attendance. A prairie pony race near Williamsport draws $25 purse, with Bald Face and Jake leading to a close finish. timekeepers and bidders participate actively.
