Doings in Dakota opens lands in Winnebago reserve area

The old Winnebago reservation in Hughes and Hyde counties will be opened to settlement. The Yankton county treasurer reports a balance of 16694.96. Luther T. Lee, a Devil's Lake merchant, died by self-inflicted cause, attributed to unrequited love on February 25. Tax tithe extension may close many schools temporarily. Cattle are in fine condition with low losses, and dealers in Aurora loan flax-seed to farmers to be repaid from crop. Pine Ridge Indian boys raised 500 bushels of potatoes last season and will farm more next season. Mountain lions cause damage in the Black Hills, with a stockman losing 88 cattle in one night. Lawrence county receives 11555.54 for liquor licenses since July 1, 1884. 71 licenses issued, 22 in Deadwood.
