Linton convention settles senator race in Emmons county

In Emmons county at Linton last Saturday the Republican convention chose Alexander Macdonald over Wesley Baker for the senator nomination after balance of power was secured by C. A. Patterson. Macdonald praised as educated and trustworthy, while Baker’s defeat drew praise from allies. Delegates to Braddock and Fargo were named. Patterson and Baker figures drew scrutiny for politicking.

I G Bentley Dies After Sudden Lungs Hemorrhage

I G Bentley died at his home in the eastern part of the city after a sudden hemorrhage from the lungs. Born May 28 1839 in Petersburgh New York he served in the Civil War and was wounded at Antietam. He moved to North Dakota in 1886 and later to Williamsport and finally to the city. He leaves a wife and three children, two of whom survive. He was well regarded for generosity and conscientiousness by friends and relatives.
