Early Beaver Valley settler Annie Bartu dies by accidental poisoning

Mrs Annie Bartu died after drinking laudanum and ether by mistake near Linton four miles northwest of town. The 65 year old, an early Beaver Valley settler since 1884, left a large family including son John Bartu of Linton and daughter Mrs Mary Lyon of Linton. Funeral services were held at the Lyon residence conducted by Rev J E McKinney with a local choir and pallbearers. Interment followed at Beaver Valley cemetery.
