The U S Food Administration in Washington outlines wartime wheat saving measures to supply Allies and maintain military rations. Households may use no more than 1 1 2 pounds of wheat products per person weekly while public eating venues observe two wheatless days weekly and limit servings.
The notice calls residents to beautify Linton by cleaning yards alleys and streets. It urges removing weeds rubbish and abandoned cans and ashes, keeping main and back streets tidy to boost city appearance and property values.
Captain Richard Pearson Hobson, hero of the Merrimac and noted reformer and orator, will lecture at 8 p m May 27 1918 in the Methodist church in Bismarck. The event, under the North Dakota Enforcement League, offers free admission and invites the public to attend this one date appearance in the capital city.
The Inter-Denominational Sunday School Convention will be held at Linton on May 15 and 16 with Bertha Palmer State Field Worker in charge. Anyone interested in Sunday school work should attend these meetings and remember the dates.
Julius Kruger living south of Roscoe deserts from Fort Riley and registers in Linton under an assumed name. Sheriff Meinhover intercepts him on a northbound train. Kruger confesses and is held in the county jail awaiting word from Fort Riley and possible court martial.
The Y M C A reports 98 percent of the 2500 men traveling from North Dakota to Camp Dodge enjoyed activities by six secretaries and 18 assistants aboard the train. Stamps, postal cards, letters, and Y M C A reading materials were widely used, with patriotic songs and readings keeping spirits high en route to the front.

A telegram from Camp Dodge announces the death of William Zottnick son of Mr and Mrs Phillip Zottnick of Pollock after a severe illness. He left Emmons county for training, fell gravely ill at camp, and died around 11 am yesterday. Funeral services are planned in Pollock with interment at Pollock cemetery.
From the Extension Division of the Agricultural College. Using a road drag scrapes projections and fills lows to prevent standing water that softens the bed. Regular use crowns and hardens the surface with minimal labor and dust by reducing rutting from horse hooves.

The Braddock Dramatic Club presented Under the Laurels in Linton last Friday to a packed house. The Red Cross fundraiser netted 117 dollars from ticket sales, plus 94 dollars from an auction of a plant donated by Mrs. Henry Wittmayer, with proceeds going to the Red Cross and the club restoring the plant to display in Braddock's Red Cross room.

Fifteen Emmons county youths depart Monday morning for Camp Dodge for training before heading to France. A banquet at the Linton House Saturday will feature Four-Minute speakers and a band if weather permits. Names include Albert Larson, Fred Earl, John Semasko, and others listed for the contingent.
A 1918 letter from the American Red Cross in New York thanks the Emmons County Chapter for a clothing shipment sent March 26 1918. Edward J Williams Assistant Treasurer signs the acknowledgment to Linton North Dakota.
