On May fourteen, 1889, Emmons County voters will elect three delegates to a Constitutional Convention to meet in Bismarck on July fourth. Polls open 8am to 5pm. voters mark two names. The Dakota County Board of Commissioners faces a rumor that Thomas Bottomley offered to build a brick vault in the old county building for two hundred dollars a year for three years. The Rec ord notes no minutes confirming the offer, while citizens oppose moving county offices from the jail. The paper defends the jail as the proper site for offices and records, arguing against the proposal as unnecessary and costly.

A Providence reader expresses relief at receiving the Reconp newspaper and asks for a March 29 issue if available. The letter thanks Williamsport for weekly correspondence and salutes the editor, noting concern over prairie fires and avoiding losses like those in South Dakota.
