Arbor Day Proclamation Sets May 7 1897 as State Day

Gov. Briggs designates Friday May 7 1897 as Arbor Day encouraging trustees faculties students teachers pupils and citizens to plant trees shrubs and vines on public buildings highways and around homes to beautify the state and promote tree care and culture for public gain.
