Wa. McKean is named game warden for the Second district while the Sanborn Enterprise announces a school law change. Beginning next year apportionment of funds shifts from total school age children to the average daily attendance over sixty days.
The issue notes an Oliver Typewriter Company ad claiming typewriters were built upside down. It then pivots to a medical note praising the appendix as a vital organ amid jokes about typewriter language and a surgeon Sir William McEwen’s stance on the appendix as important to digestion.

Last Friday a severe prairie fire west of Hazelton destroyed the Bauer farm including house, barn, gear, and about 25 to 30 hogs. Despite fire-guards, the wind spread flames across them and the fire halted near the N P track. Bauer, with only a few hundred dollars in insurance, faces an estimated loss of 3500 to 4000 amid community sympathy.
An Iowa Wisconsin or Michigan land sale note recommends selling current holdings worth 75 to 100 dollars per acre to buy better land in North Dakota paying 20 to 50 dollars per acre. The Fargo Record cites a policy favoring relocation for cheaper land and a more favorable climate.
