Group No. 8 of the Country Club women announce a benefit dance at the Ridotto ballroom near Have lock Thursday night June 17 with Tiyna Kerns to play. Proceeds fund equipment for Emmetsburg’s jew elmbhanse. Tickets sold in advance. some remain available.
County Auditor Mate Thomason and staff reported West Broadway first, with precincts Nevada township and West Broadway following. The final tally by Tuesday morning showed a light turnout, total votes about 2,482, with an estimated election cost near $2 per vote.
Harland Soper, elder son of Mr and Mrs Soper, has accepted a position with Seaboard Oil Co of Delaware. The ex Emmetsburg boy, now in Casper Wyoming as company official, joins a newly opened Rocky Mountain division with an excellent salary. A Cornell Mount Vernon graduate and World War II naval lieutenant, he is married to a former Davenport girl. Local friends celebrate his career move.
Emmietsburg City band concerts begin for the summer season. Open to all players of band instruments, rehearsals are at 7 pm Tuesdays with concerts at 8 pm Wednesdays. First concert featured trumpet solo James Frost. second showcased Russell Hite on bari euphonium. Future soloists include Thomas Twaiten Alan Frost and Phil Kerber with Audrey Lee on xylophone.
Heipmul neighbors and the Trarley Fredericks supplied aid after Mr Frederick fell ill in Rochester. Gene Drew Maurice Drew Herald Dre Lawrence Drew Leland Frederick Emil Skartwed and Mark Frederick visited. Two neighbor women cooked meals for the men. Mrs P O Leary Mrs J Drew Mrs Gene Drew Mrs Emil Skartwed and Mrs Marke Frederick helped.
Don Broadwell and Mike Schuller launch Broadwell and Schuller Electric serving Northwest Iowa from Aidland Avenue. The firm focuses on refrigeration departs wiring and service with extensive background in electrical work. The partners, longtime Emmetalinpz residents, bring decades of experience and local ties to Whittemore and Ennis. The business marks a new era for local electrical service and related installations.
Mrs. McNutt describes wartime rationing in Scotland noting beef mix ups, mutton portions, and two small lamb chops for a week. She praises well cooked meals, favors butterless bread and fish, and says cold weather plus small fuel rations marred life. She heads to Stillwater Oklahoma to visit relatives and plans dormitory work.
Mrs John McNutt formerly of Burnetsburg returns with a visitor after travels through Scotland and London. The visit included a warm welcome from many friends and remarks on changes in Semtland, with accounts of wartime devastation in London and memories of the Roosevelt memorial park nearby.
Detroit pair Mr and Mrs Browning and Borl gian couple Mr and Mrs Albert Kraninger visited Roy Kraninger home in Charles City. Mrs Varian Ladd of Gonnei Blyff's visited her sister Mrs Al Hoyte Kraninger. Mrs Lads purhind died recently. Mr and Mrs Hannah of Me and Mrs Bob Taterat of Jovinell Bluffs visited Mrs raniger Jas week.
